حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ
إِنِّي قَرَأْتُ الْمُفَصَّلَ اللَّيْلَةَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ هَذًّا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ؟ لَقَدْ عَرَفْتُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ يَقْرَؤُهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَكْعَةٍ فَذَكَرَ عِشْرِينَ سُورَةً مِنْ أَوَّلِ الْمُفَصَّلِ يَقْرِنُ بَيْنَ السُّورَتَيْنِ

✧ I recited the mufassal tonight in a single rakʿah. ʿAbd Allah said, 'Rapid like the rapid recitation of poetry? I certainly knew the analogous surahs that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in a single rakʿah,' and he mentioned twenty surahs from the beginning of the mufassal, pairing two surahs [in each rakʿah].
