حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ثنا عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنِّي طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي ثَمَانِيًا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «وَاحِدَةً قُلْتَهَا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَبِينَ مِنْكَ امْرَأَتُكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ
«هُوَ كَمَا قُلْتَ» ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي عَدَدَ النُّجُومِ فَقَالَ «مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً قُلْتَهَا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَبِينَ مِنْكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَذَكَرَ عَبْدُ اللهِ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ نِسَاءَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ بِشَيْءٍ لَا أَحْفَظُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «قَدْ بَيَّنَ اللهُ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ الطَّلَاقُ فَمَنْ طَلَّقَ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللهُ فَقَدْ بُيِّنَ لَهُ وَمَنْ لَبَسَ جَعَلْنَا بِهِ لَبْسَهُ وَاللهِ لَا تَلْبِسُونَ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ وَنَتَحَمَّلُهُ عَنْكُمْ هُوَ كَمَا تَقُولُونَ»

✧ “It is as you said.” Then a man came to him and said: I divorced my wife the number of the stars. He said: “Did you say it once?” He said: Yes. He said: “Do you want her to be separated from you?” He said: Yes. He said: Then Abdullah mentioned at that point the women of the people of the earth with something I do not remember. Then Abdullah said: “Allah has made clear to you how divorce is. Whoever divorces as Allah commanded him, it has been made clear to him. Whoever confuses, we assign to him his confusion. By Allah, you will not confuse yourselves and we will bear it for you. It is as you say.”
