✧ O Abu ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, I slept through the Fajr prayer until the sun rose. ʿAbd Allah said to him: Perform wuḍūʾ as well as you used to perform wuḍūʾ and pray as well as you used to pray. He saw that ʿAbd Allah did not understand the gravity of what he had done. He then repeated: O Abu ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, I slept through the Fajr prayer until the sun rose. ʿAbd Allah said to him: «Perform wuḍūʾ as well as you used to perform wuḍūʾ and pray as well as you used to pray.» He remained silent, and when those with him had departed, he said: O Abu ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, I slept through the Fajr prayer until the sun rose. ʿAbd Allah took hold of his finger and pressed it, then said: «It was only said to you so that you would understand: perform wuḍūʾ as well as you used to perform wuḍūʾ and pray as well as you used to pray.»
