حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا بَيْنَا هُوَ يَسْقِي زَرْعًا لَهُ إِذْ رَأَى غَيَابَةً تَرَّهْيَا فَسَمِعَ فِيهَا صَوْتًا أَنِ اسْقِ أَرْضَ فُلَانٍ فَاتَّبِعَ الصَّوْتَ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي سُمِّيَتْ فَسَأَلَ صَاحِبَهَا مَا عَمَلُكَ فِيهَا؟ قَالَ إِنِّي أُعِيدُ فِيهَا ثُلُثًا وَأَتَصَدَّقُ بِثُلُثٍ وَأَحْبِسُ لِأَهْلِي ثُلُثًا

✧ A man, while he was irrigating a field of his, saw a cloud raining. He heard a voice in it saying, 'Irrigate the land of So-and-so.' He followed the voice until he reached the land that was named. He asked its owner, 'What is your practice regarding it?' He said, 'I return one-third [of its produce to the land], I give one-third in charity, and I reserve one-third for my family.'
