حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رُسْتَةَ قَالَا ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعٍ السَّمَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا ضَحَّى اشْتَرَى كَبْشَيْنِ سَمِينَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ حَتَّى إِذَا خَطَبَ النَّاسَ وَصَلَّى أَتَى بِأَحَدِهِمَا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ فَذَبَحَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ بِالْمُدْيَةِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «هَذَا عَنْ أُمَّتِي جَمِيعًا مَنْ شَهِدَ لَكَ بِالتَّوْحِيدِ وَشَهِدَ لِي بِالْبَلَاغِ» ثُمَّ يُؤْتَى بِالْآخَرِ فَيَذْبَحُهُ هُوَ بِنَفْسِهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ هَذَا عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ» فَيُعْطِيهِمْ جَمِيعًا الْمَسَاكِينَ وَأَكَلَ هُوَ وَأَهْلُهُ مِنْهُمَا

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered a sacrifice, he would buy two fat, horned, black-and-white rams. After he had given the sermon and prayed, one of them would be brought to him while he was standing in his place of prayer, and he would slaughter it himself with a knife. Then he would say: “This is on behalf of my entire ummah—whoever bears witness to Your oneness and bears witness to my conveyance.” Then the other would be brought, and he would slaughter it himself. Then he would say: “O Allah, this is on behalf of Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad.” He would give them all to the poor, and he and his family would eat from them.
