حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءَ أَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْعَيْزَارِ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
«تَدُورُ رَحَى الْإِسْلَامِ عَلَى رَأْسِ خَمْسٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ ثُمَّ يَحْدُثُ حَدَثٌ عَظِيمٌ فَإِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ هَلَكَتُهُمْ فَبِالْحَرِيِّ وَإِلَّا تَرَاخَى عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ رَأَى مَا يُنْكِرُهُ» هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ مَوْقُوفًا وَرَفَعَهُ مَسْرُوقٌ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَالْبَرَاءُ بْنُ نَاجِيَةَ

✧ “The millstone of Islam will turn upon the head of thirty-five, then a great event will occur. If their destruction is in it, then it is likely; otherwise it will be delayed from them for seventy years. Whoever reaches that will see what he disapproves of.” Thus Abu al-Ahwas narrated it as mawquf, and Masruq, ʿAbd al-Rahman b. ʿAbdullah, and al-Baraʾ b. Najiyah raised it.
