حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ
مُدَّ الْفُرَاتُ عَلَى عَهْدِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «لَا تَكْرَهُوا فَإِنَّهُ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يُلْتَمَسُ فِيهِ طَسْتٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ وَلَا يُوجَدُ ذَلِكَ حِينَ يَرْجِعُ كُلُّ مَاءٍ إِلَى عُنْصُرِهِ وَيَكُونُ بَقِيَّةُ الْمَاءِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِالشَّامِ»
Translation

✧ The Euphrates River extended during the time of Abdullah, and the people disliked that. Abdullah said, "Do not dislike it, for there will soon come a time when people will search for a cup of water and will not find it, as all water will return to its source, and the remainder of the water will be with the believers in Sham."
