حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ قَالَ

عَبْدُ اللهِ لِامْرَأَتِهِ «الْيَوْمَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ أَمْسِ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَا أَدْرِي فَقَالَ «لَكِنِّي أَدْرِي أَمْسِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَوْمِ وَالْيَوْمُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ غَدٍ وَكَذَلِكَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ»

✧ ʿAbd Allāh said to his wife: “Is today better or yesterday?” She said, “I do not know.” He said, “But I know: yesterday is better than today, and today is better than tomorrow, and so on until the Hour comes.”
