حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ

خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَوْمًا وَهُوَ خَائِرٌ فَقُلْنَا مَا لَكَ؟ فَقَالَ «ذَهَبَ صَفْوُ الدُّنْيَا فَلَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا الْكَدَرُ فَالْمَوْتُ الْيَوْمَ تُحْفَةٌ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ»

✧ ʿAbd Allāh came out to us one day while he was weak. We said, “What is the matter with you?” He said, “The pure part of this world is gone, and nothing remains but its dregs. Today death is a gift for every Muslim.”
