حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَخْرَمُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ الْغَفَّارِ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

«كُنَّا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ نُسَمِّي الْإِمَّعَةَ الَّذِي يَأْتِي الطَّعَامَ وَلَمْ يُدْعَ إِلَيْهِ أَلَا وَإِنَّ الْإِمَّعَةَ فِيكُمُ الْمُحْقِبُ دِينَهُ»

Translation

✧ “In the Age of Ignorance we used to call the immaʿa the one who comes to food without being invited. Indeed, the immaʿa among you is the one who makes his religion a mount for others.”
