حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ عَامِرٍ قَالَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِحَلْقَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ

لِلْغُلَامِ انْطَلِقْ وَانْظُرْ أَهَؤُلَاءِ جُلُوسًا قَبْلُ أَمْ هَؤُلَاءِ؟ فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا يَكْفِي الْمَسْجِدَ مُحْدِثٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِالتَّبَاغِي»

✧ He said to the boy, “Go and see whether these were sitting before or those.” He came and said, “These.” He said, “The mosque only needs one innovator, for those before you perished only through mutual hatred.”
