حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ مُوسَى قَالَتْ

سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ أَنْ يَصْعَدَ شَجَرَةً فَيَأْتِيَهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهَا فَنَظَرَ أَصْحَابُهُ إِلَى حُمُوشَةِ سَاقَيْهِ فَضَحِكُوا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا يُضْحِكُكُمْ؟ لَرِجْلُ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي الْمِيزَانِ أَثْقَلُ مِنْ أُحُدٍ»

✧ I heard ʿAlī say: The Prophet ﷺ ordered Ibn Masʿūd to climb a tree and bring him something from it. His Companions looked at the thinness of his legs and laughed. The Prophet ﷺ said: “What makes you laugh? The leg of ʿAbdullāh in the Scale is heavier than Uḥud.”
