حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْقَطِرَانِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الطُّفَيْلِ النَّخَعِيُّ ثنا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ قَالَ

قِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ اقْرَأْ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ «أتْرُكُ قِرَاءَتِي لِقِرَاءَةِ زَيْدٍ وَقَرَأْتُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَبْعِينَ سُورَةً وَهُوَ غُلَامٌ لَهُ ذُؤَابَتَانِ؟»

✧ It was asked of Abdullah, "Read according to the recitation of Zaid." He said, "Should I abandon my recitation for the recitation of Zaid? I have read seventy Surahs from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was a young boy and he had two twisted hairs."
