حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَدْعُو بِدُعَاءٍ مَرَّ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَلَمَّا حَاذَى بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَمِعَ دُعَاءَهُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَعْرِفُهُ فَقَالَ «مَنْ هَذَا سَلْ تُعْطَهْ» فَرَجَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ الدُّعَاءُ الَّذِي كُنْتَ تَدْعُو بِهِ؟ قَالَ حَمِدْتُ اللهَ وَمَجَّدْتُهُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ اللهُمَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَعْدُكَ الْحَقُّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَكِتَابُكَ حَقٌّ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ وَمُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَرُسُلُكَ حَقٌّ

✧ Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us: 'Abd al-'Aziz b. Muhammad narrated to us, from Sharik b. 'Abdullah b. Abi Namir, from 'Awn b. 'Abdullah b. 'Utbah, from his father, who said: While Ibn Mas'ud was in the mosque supplicating, the Prophet ﷺ passed by with Abu Bakr. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew parallel to him, he heard his supplication, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not recognize him. He said: "Who is this? Ask, and you will be given." Abu Bakr went back to 'Abdullah and said: "What was the supplication you were making?" He said: "I praised and glorified Allah, then I said: O Allah, there is no god but You. Your promise is true, meeting You is true, Your Book is true, the prophets are true, Muhammad ﷺ is true, Paradise is true, the Fire is true, and Your messengers are true."
