✧ He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Extend your hand." He said, "Even if I command you to sever ties with your mother?" He said, "No." He said, "Then I returned to him and said, 'Extend your hand so I may pledge allegiance to you.' He said, 'Upon what?' I said, 'Upon Islam.' He said, 'Even if I command you to sever ties with your mother?' I said, 'No.' Then I returned to him a third time. He had a mother and was one of the most dutiful of people to her. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, 'O Talha, there is no severing of kinship ties in our religion, but I wished that there be no doubt in your faith.' So he embraced Islam and his Islam was excellent. Then he fell ill, and the Prophet ﷺ visited him and found him unconscious. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'I think Talha will pass away tonight. If he regains consciousness, send for me.' Talha regained consciousness in the middle of the night and said, 'Did the Messenger of God ﷺ visit me?' They said, 'Yes,' and told him what he had said. He said, 'Do not send for him at this hour, lest an animal sting him or something befall him. But in the morning, convey my greetings to him and tell him to ask forgiveness for me.' Then he passed away. After the Prophet ﷺ prayed the dawn prayer, he asked about him, and they informed him of his death and what he had said. The Messenger of God ﷺ raised his hands and said, 'O God, meet him while he smiles at You and You smile at him.'
