حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ وَعَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ أُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيَّ فَقَالَ «بِمَ تُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْكَ؟» قُلْتُ أَذْكُرُ اللهَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِشَيْءٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُ ثُمَّ دَأَبْتَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ لَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ؟» قُلْتُ بَلَى فَقَالَ «تَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا فِي كِتَابِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا أَحْصَى خَلْقُهُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى مَا فِي خَلْقِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مِلْءَ سَمَاوَاتِهِ وَأَرْضِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مِلْءَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَتُسَبِّحُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَتُكَبِّرُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came out while I was sitting moving my lips, so he said, “What are you moving your lips for?” I said, “I am remembering Allah, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Shall I not tell you something that, if you say it and then persist night and day, you would not reach it?” I said, “Yes, please.” He said, “Say: All praise is due to Allah, as many as His Book has enumerated; and all praise is due to Allah, as many as what is in His Book; and all praise is due to Allah, as many as His creation has enumerated; and all praise is due to Allah for what is in His creation; and all praise is due to Allah, filling His heavens and His earth; and all praise is due to Allah, the number of all things; and all praise is due to Allah, filling all things. And glorify Him similarly, and magnify Him similarly.”
