✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to my people to call them to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and to present to them the laws of Islam. I came to them after they had watered their camels, milked them, and drunk. When they saw me, they said, "Welcome to al-Sudayy b. Ajlan." They said, "We have heard that you have inclined to this man." I said, "No, but I have believed in Allah and His Messenger. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to you to present Islam and its laws to you." While we were thus, they brought a large bowl of blood and placed it, and they gathered around it eating. They said, "Come, O Sudayy." I said, "Woe to you! I have only come to you from the one who forbids this to you through what Allah revealed to him." They said, "And what did he say?" I said, "This verse was revealed: 'Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, and the flesh of swine' up to His saying 'and that you seek division by divining arrows.'" I continued calling them to Islam, but they refused. I said to them, "Woe to you! Bring me some water, for I am extremely thirsty." He said, "And I was wearing my turban." They said, "No, but we will leave you to die of thirst." He said, "So I wrapped my head in my turban and slept in the intense heat on the pebbles. Then someone came to me in my sleep with a glass goblet, the like of which people had never seen more beautiful, containing a drink the like of which people had never seen more delicious. He made it possible for me, and I drank it. When I finished my drink, I woke up, and by Allah, I was not thirsty, nor did I know thirst after that drink."
