حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْخَبَائِرِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ زَبْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى مَشْيَخَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِيضٌ لِحَاهُمْ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعَاشِرَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَمِّرُوا وَصَفِّرُوا وَخَالِفُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ»

✧ I heard Abu Umamah Al-Bahili say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once went out to a group of Ansar elders, their hair was white and fair. He said, "O Ansar! Dye your hair with henna and whiten it with kohl, and be different from the people of the Scripture."
