حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ زَبْرِيقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّائِبِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ لَحِقَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فِي حُلَّةٍ إِزَارٍ وَرِدَاءٍ قَدْ أَسْبَلَ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَأْخُذُ بِنَاحِيَةِ ثَوْبِهِ وَيَتَوَاضَعُ لِلَّهِ وَيَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ» حَتَّى سَمِعَهَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَحْمَسُ السَّاقَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ خَلْقِهِ يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْبِلِينَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِكَفِّهِ تَحْتَ رُكْبَةِ نَفْسِهِ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ» ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا تَحْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ» ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا تَحْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, ʿAmr b. Zurārah al-Anṣārī caught up with us wearing a fine garment, an izār and a ridāʾ, which he had let hang low. The Prophet ﷺ began taking hold of the edge of his garment and humbling himself before God, saying, “O God, Your servant, and the son of Your servant, and the son of Your maidservant,” until ʿAmr b. Zurārah heard it. He turned to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of God, I have thin shins.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “O ʿAmr b. Zurārah, God ﷻ has made all of His creation well. O ʿAmr b. Zurārah, God does not love those who let their garments hang low.” Then the Messenger of God ﷺ placed his hand below his own knee and said, “O ʿAmr b. Zurārah, this is the place of the izār.” Then he raised it, then placed it below that and said, “O ʿAmr b. Zurārah, this is the place of the izār.” Then he raised it, then placed it below that and said, “O ʿAmr b. Zurārah, this is the place of the izār.”
