حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَضْرِبُوا إِمَاءَ اللهِ» قَالَ فَذَئِرَ النِّسَاءُ وَسَاءَتْ أَخْلَاقُهُنَّ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنِّ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَئِرَ النِّسَاءُ وَسَاءَتْ أَخْلَاقُهُنَّ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنِّ مُنْذُ نَهَيْتَ عَنْ ضَرْبِهِنَّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «فَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ» فَضَرَبَ النَّاسُ النِّسَاءَ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَأَتَى نِسَاءٌ كَثِيرٌ يَشْتَكِينَ الضَّرْبَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ «لَقَدْ أَطَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ اللَّيْلَةَ سَبْعُونَ امْرَأَةً كُلُّهُنُّ يَشْتَكِينَ مِنَ الضَّرْبِ وَايْمُ اللهِ لَا تَجِدُونَ أُولَئِكَ خِيَارَكُمْ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not strike the female servants of Allah." He said: So the women became defiant and their behavior toward their husbands worsened. 'Umar said: "O Messenger of Allah, the women have become defiant and their behavior toward their husbands has worsened since you forbade striking them." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Then strike them." So the people struck their wives that night, and many women came complaining of the beating. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Seventy women came to the family of Muhammad ﷺ last night, all of them complaining of the beating. By Allah, you will not find those among the best of you."
