حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ح وَثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ قَالُوا أَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَضْرِبُوا إِمَاءَ اللهِ» فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ ؓ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ ذَئِرَ النِّسَاءُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنِّ مُنْذُ نَهَيْتَ عَنْ ضَرْبِهِنِّ فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَضَرَبُوا فَأَطَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ نِسَاءٌ كَثِيرٌ سَبْعُونَ امْرَأَةً كُلُّهُنَّ يَشْتَكِي زَوْجُهَا وَلَا تَجِدُ أُولَئِكَ خِيَارَكُمْ

✧ Al-Qa'nabī and Ibrāhīm b. Bashshār al-Ramādī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān b. 'Uyaynah informed us, from al-Zuhrī, from 'Abd Allāh b. 'Abd Allāh b. 'Umar, from Iyās b. 'Abd Allāh, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Do not strike the female servants of Allah." Then 'Umar ؓ came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the women have become defiant toward their husbands since you forbade striking them." So he permitted them, and they struck them. Then many women came to the family of Muhammad ﷺ — seventy women, each one complaining about her husband — and you will not find those among the best of you.
