حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَجْلِسُ إِلَى أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ فَيُحَدِّثُنَا حَدِيثًا كَثِيرًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا سَكَتَ قَالَ «أَعَقِلْتُمْ؟ بَلِّغُوا كَمَا بُلِّغْتُمْ»

✧ We used to sit with Abu Umamah al-Bahili and he would narrate to us many hadiths from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he fell silent, he would say: “Have you understood? Convey as it was conveyed to you.”
