حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي الْأَذَنِيُّ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ مَرِيحًا يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَسْتُ أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي جُوعًا يَقْتُلُهُمْ وَلَا عَدُوًّا يَجْتَاحُهُمْ وَلَكِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي أَئِمَّةً مُضِلِّينَ إِنْ أَطَاعُوهُمْ فَتَنُوهُمْ وَإِنْ عَصَوْهُمْ قَتَلُوهُمْ»

✧ I heard an elderly man called Abu Abdullah Marih narrate that he heard Abu Umamah narrate that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "I do not fear for my Ummah hunger that kills them, nor an enemy that destroys them, but I fear for my Ummah misleading leaders. If they obey them, they will tempt them, and if they disobey them, they will kill them."
