حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَحْشِيٍّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُفَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا خَالِي الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ

أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا وَهُوَ بِوَدَّانَ أَوْ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَ فِي وَجْهِي كَآبَةَ رَدَّهِ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ «لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ»

✧ That he gifted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a wild donkey while he was at Waddan or al-Abwa, and he returned it to him. Then he recognized in my face the sadness of his returning it to me, so he said, “It is not that we reject it for you, but we are in the state of ihram.”
