✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he presented Islam to me, so I embraced Islam, and he taught me verses of the Quran. I said: O Messenger of Allah, I did deeds in the pre-Islamic era; do I have any reward for them? He said: "What did you do?" I said: I lost two ten-month pregnant she-camels of mine, so I went out seeking them on a camel of mine. Two tents in an open area of land appeared to me, and I headed towards them. In one of them I found an old man, and I said: Have you taken in two ten-month pregnant she-camels? He said: What are their brands? I said: The brand of Ibn Darim. He said: We found your two she-camels, and we delivered their young and let them mate, and Allah has revived through them a household of your people from the Arabs of Mudar. While he was speaking to me, a woman from the other tent called out: She gave birth, to whom she gave birth, he said: What did she give birth to? If it is a boy, he has shared in our people; if it is a girl, we bury her. She said: A girl. I said: What is this buried alive one? He said: A daughter of mine. I said: I will buy her from you. He said: O brother of Banu Tamim, do you say, will you sell your daughter, when I have told you that I am a man from the Arabs of Mudar? I said: I am not buying her neck from you; I am buying her soul so that you will not kill her. He said: With what will you buy her? I said: These two she-camels of mine and their young. He said: Will you add this camel of yours? I said: Yes, on condition that you send a messenger with me, and when I reach my family, I will return the camel to you. So he did. When I reached my family, I returned the camel to him. Later that night, I thought to myself: This is a noble act that no one among the Arabs preceded me to, and Islam has appeared, and I have revived three hundred and sixty buried alive girls, buying each one of them with two ten-month pregnant she-camels and a camel. Do I have any reward for that? The Prophet ﷺ said: "You have its reward, since Allah has blessed you with Islam." Ubada said: The confirmation of Sa'sa'ah's statement is the saying of al-Farazdaq.
