حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَمَّالُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ صَيْفِيِّ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ
«لَمْ يَشْهَدْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَشْهَدًا قَطُّ إِلَّا كُنْتُ حَاضِرَهُ وَلَمْ يُبَايِعْ بَيْعَةً قَطُّ إِلَّا كُنْتُ حَاضِرَهُ وَلَمْ يُسِرَّ سَرِيَّةً قَطُّ إِلَّا كُنْتُ حَاضِرُهَا وَلَا غَزَا غَزْوَةً قَطُّ أَوَّلَ الزَّمَانِ وَآخِرَهُ إِلَّا كُنْتُ فِيهَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ شِمَالِهِ وَمَا خَافُوا أَمَامَهُمْ قَطُّ إِلَّا كُنْتُ أَمَامَهُمْ وَلَا مَا وَرَاءَهُمْ إِلَّا كُنْتُ وَرَاءَهُمْ وَمَا جَعَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ قَطُّ حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ»
Translation

✧ “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never witnessed any scene except that I was present; he never pledged allegiance except that I was present; he never dispatched a raiding party except that I was present; he never went on any expedition, from the first of the time to its last, except that I was in it on his right or his left. Whenever they feared what was before them, I was in front of them; whenever they feared what was behind them, I was behind them. I never placed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between me and the enemy until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away.”
