حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ الْقِيلِيُّ ثنا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُغِيثٍ عَنْ كَعْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي صُهَيْبٌ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ بِإِلَهٍ اسْتَحْدَثْنَاهُ وَلَا بِرَبٍّ ابْتَدَعْنَاهُ وَلَا كَانَ لَنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَهٌ نَلْجَأُ إِلَيْهِ وَنَذَرُكَ وَلَا أَعَانَكَ عَلَى خَلْقِنَا أَحَدٌ فَنُشْرِكَهُ فِيكَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ» قَالَ كَعْبٌ وَهَكَذَا كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ دَاوُدُ ﷺ يَدْعُو

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to supplicate, saying, "O God, You are not a god whom we have newly invented, nor a Lord whom we have originated, nor was there for us before You any god to whom we could flee and abandon You, nor did anyone help You in creating us so that we would associate him with You. Blessed are You, and exalted." Ka'b said, "Thus did David, the prophet of God ﷺ, use to supplicate."
