al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 7201

✧ Shaybah bin Uthman bin Talhah bin Abdullah bin Abd al-Dar bin Qusayy al-Hajabi, nicknamed Abu Uthman, converted to Islam on the Day of the Conquest, also known as the Day of Hunayn, and was from the Mualaffa tribe.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْقَطَّانِيُّ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ثنا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْهَرَوِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ

دَخَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى خَالِهِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ قَالَ مَالَكَ أَجَزَعٌ وَحِرْصٌ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا؟ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «عَسَى أَنْ تُدْرِكُوا أَقْوَامًا يُؤْثِرُونَ أَمْوَالًا وَإِنَّمَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا دَارٌ وَمَرْكَبٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ»

✧ Muawiyah entered upon his uncle, and when he saw him, he said, "Why do you look anxious and eager for the world?" His uncle replied, "No, but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'You may come across people who value wealth, but it is enough for one of you to have a house and a means of transportation in the way of Allah.'"
