حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ قَالُوا ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ أَنَّهُ رَاحَ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ وَهَجَّرَ بِالرَّوَاحِ فَلَقِيَ شَدَّادَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَالصُّنَابِحِيُّ مَعَهُ قُلْتُ أَيْنَ تُرِيدَانِ يَرْحَمُكُمَا اللهُ؟ قَالَا نُرِيدُ هَهُنَا إِلَى أَخٍ لَنَا مَرِيضٍ نَعُودُهُ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُمَا حَتَّى دَخَلَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَالَا لَهُ كَيْفَ أَصْبَحْتَ؟ قَالَ أَصْبَحْتُ بِنِعْمَةٍ وَفَضْلٍ فَقَالَ

لَهُ شَدَّادٌ أَبْشِرْ بِكَفَّارَاتِ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَحَطِّ الْخَطَايَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ إِذَا ابْتَلَيْتُ عَبْدًا مِنْ عِبَادِي مُؤْمِنًا فَحَمِدَنِي عَلَى مَا ابْتَلَيْتُهُ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ مَضْجَعِهِ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا وَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ ﷻُّ أَنَا قَيَّدْتُ عَبْدِيَ هَذَا وَابْتَلَيْتُهُ فَأَجْرُوا لَهُ مَا كُنْتُمْ تُجْرُونَ لَهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ

✧ Shaddād said to him, “Rejoice, for these are expiations for evil deeds and removers of sins. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say, ‘God ﷻ says: When I test one of My believing servants and he praises Me for what I have tested him with, then he rises from his bed as free of sins as the day his mother bore him.’ And the Lord ﷻ says, ‘I have restrained this servant of Mine and tested him, so record for him what you used to record for him when he was healthy.’”
