حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ حَذْلَمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَا ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الرَّحْبِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ
لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا شَدَّادُ بْنَ أَوْسٍ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ قَدِ اكْتَنَزُوا الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ فَاكْنِزْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَالْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مُوجِبَاتِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَعَزَائِمَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to me: “O Shaddād b. Aws, when you see people hoarding gold and silver, then hoard these words: O God, I ask You for steadfastness in the matter and resolve upon right guidance. I ask You for the means that entail Your mercy and the firm resolutions for Your forgiveness. I ask You for gratitude for Your blessing and excellence in worshipping You. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good that You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil that You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen.”
