وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَسْتَفْتِيهِ فِي الْكَلَالَةِ أَنْبِئْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَكَلَالَةٌ الرَّجُلُ يُرِيدُ إِخُوَةً مِنْ أُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ؟ فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ آيَةَ الْكَلَالَةِ الَّتِي فِي سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ ثُمَّ عَادَ الرَّجُلُ يَسْأَلُهُ فَكُلَّمَا سَأَلَهُ قَرَأَهَا حَتَّى أَكْثَرَ وَصَخِبَ الرَّجُلُ فَاشْتَدَّ صَخَبُهُ مِنْ حِرْصٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُبَيِّنَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ الْآيَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنِّي وَاللهِ لَا أَزِيدُكَ عَلَى مَا أُعْطِيتُ إِنِّي وَاللهِ لَا أَزِيدُكَ عَلَى مَا أُعْطِيتُ» حَتَّى أَزَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَجَلَسَ حِينَئِذٍ الرَّجُلُ وَسَكَتَ
Translation

✧ A man from the Ansar came to the Messenger of God ﷺ seeking his ruling on kalalah. He said, 'Tell me, O Messenger of God: is kalalah a man who leaves behind brothers from his mother and his father?' The Prophet ﷺ said nothing to him except that he recited to him the verse of kalalah which is in Surah al-Nisa'. Then the man returned asking him, and each time he asked, he recited it to him, until the man became persistent and raised his voice, and his clamor intensified out of eagerness for the Prophet ﷺ to make it clear to him. So he recited the verse to him, then the Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'By God, I will not increase you beyond what I have been given; by God, I will not increase you beyond what I have been given,' so much so that he repeated it to him. Then the man sat down and fell silent.
