حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ إِذَا قَدِمْتُ عَلَى أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ سَأَلَنِي عَنْ رَجُلٍ وَإِذَا قَدِمْتُ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ سَأَلَنِي عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ إِذَا قَدِمْتُ عَلَيْكَ سَأَلْتَنِي عَنْ فُلَانٍ وَإِذَا قَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ سَأَلَنِي عَنْكَ؟ فَقَالَ كُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَفُلَانٌ فِي بَيْتٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «آخِرُكُمْ مَوْتًا فِي النَّارِ» فَمَاتَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ثُمَّ مَاتَ أَبُو مَحْذُورَةَ ثُمَّ مَاتَ الرَّجُلُ

Translation

✧ When I came to Abu Mahdhura, he would ask me about a certain man, and when I came to that man, he would ask me about Abu Mahdhura. So I said to Abu Mahdhura: When I come to you, you ask me about so-and-so, and when I come to him, he asks me about you. He said: I, Abu Hurayrah, and so-and-so were in a house, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The last of you to die will be in the Fire.' Then Abu Hurayrah died, then Abu Mahdhura died, then the man died.
