حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا قَدِمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّتِهِ فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ «بِمَ أَحْرَمْتُمْ؟» قَالَ نَاسٌ أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ وَقَالَ آخَرُونَ قَدِمْنَا مُتَمَتِّعِينَ وَقَالَ آخَرُونَ أَهْلَلْنَا بِإِهْلَالِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ قَدِمَ وَلَمْ يَسُقْ هَدْيًا فَلْيَحْلِلْ فَإِنِّي لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَمْ أَسُقِ الْهَدْيَ حَتَّى أَكُونَ حَلَالًا» فَقَالَ لَهُ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عُمْرَتُنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا؟ أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ»

✧ When I arrived with the Messenger of God ﷺ on his Pilgrimage, he asked the people, 'With what have you declared your intention?' Some people said, 'We have declared intention for Hajj.' Others said, 'We have arrived as those performing tamattuʿ.' Others said, 'We have declared intention with your declaration, O Messenger of God.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'Whoever has arrived and has not brought a sacrificial animal should exit the state of consecration. For if I had known at the beginning of my affair what I came to know at its end, I would not have brought a sacrificial animal, so that I might be in the state of having exited consecration.' Surāqah b. Mālik said to him, 'O Messenger of God ﷺ, is this ʿUmrah of ours for this year of ours or forever?' He said, 'No, rather forever.'
