al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 646

✧ On the Day of Judgement, Allah has prepared punishment and anger for those who steal the wealth of a Muslim, or falsely swear on them with a false oath.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ

أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي وَفْدِ كِنْدَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ وَلَدٍ؟» قَالَ لَا إِلَّا مَوْلُودٌ وُلِدَ لِي مَخْرَجِي إِلَيْكَ وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ لِي مَكَانَهُ شَبِعَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا تَقُلْ ذَاكَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَأَجْرًا إِذَا قُبِضُوا وَلَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمَجْبَنَةٌ وَمَحْزَنَةٌ وَمَبْخَلَةٌ»

✧ He came to the Prophet ﷺ among the delegation of Kindah. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, 'Do you have any children?' He said, 'None except a newborn who was born when I set out to you. I would wish that in his place the people had been filled.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not say that, for in them is joy for the eyes and reward when they die. And if you say that, they are indeed a cause of cowardice, grief, and stinginess.'
