al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 645

✧ On the Day of Judgement, Allah has prepared punishment and anger for those who steal the wealth of a Muslim, or falsely swear on them with a false oath.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَارِمٌ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا عَقِيلُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ هَيْضَمٍ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ

أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ لَا يَرَوْنِي بِأَفْضَلِهِمْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَزْعُمُ أَنَّكَ مِنَّا قَالَ «لَا نَحْنُ بَنُو النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ لَا نَقْفُوا أُمَّنَا وَلَا نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا» قَالَ الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ لَا أَسْمَعُ أَحَدًا نَفَى قُرَيْشًا مِنْ كِنَانَةَ إِلَّا جَلَدْتُهُ

✧ We came to the Prophet ﷺ in a group from Kindah, and they did not consider me the best of them. I said, 'O Messenger of God, we claim that you are one of us.' He said, 'No, we are Banu al-Nadr b. Kinanah; we do not follow our mother nor disown our father.' Al-Ash'ath b. Qays said, 'O Prophet of God, I will not hear anyone deny that Quraysh is from Kinanah except that I will flog him.'
