al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 647

✧ On the Day of Judgement, Allah has prepared punishment and anger for those who steal the wealth of a Muslim, or falsely swear on them with a false oath.

حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيُّ ﷺ وُلِدَ لِي مِنْ بِنْتِ جَمْدِ بْنِ وَلِيعَةَ الْكِنْدِيِّ وَدِدْتُ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا بِهِ قَصْعَةُ ثَرِيدٍ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّ الْأَوْلَادَ مَبْخَلَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ مَحْزَنَةٌ»

✧ I said to the Prophet ﷺ, 'A child was born to me from the daughter of Jamd b. Wali'ah al-Kindi. I wished that in his place we had a bowl of tharid.' He said, 'Indeed, children are a cause of stinginess, cowardice, and grief.'
