حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ قَالَ
كُنَّا بَنِي مُقَرِّنٍ سَبْعَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَنَا خَادِمٌ لَيْسَ لَنَا غَيْرُهَا فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعْتِقُوهَا» فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَخْدُمُكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهَا ثُمَّ خَلُّوا سَبِيلَهَا»

✧ Safina reported: We, the sons of Muqarrin, were seven during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we had a servant, and we had no other servant besides her. One of us slapped her, so the Prophet ﷺ said: “Set her free.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, we have no servant besides her?” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Let her serve you until you are self-sufficient, then release her.”
