حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَائِلَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ عَنْ سَفِينَةَ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَعَاهُ عَلِيٌّ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ فَلَوْ دَعَوْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلًا فَجَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ فَرَأَى قِرَامًا فِي نَاحِيَتَيِ الْبَيْتِ فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ لِعَلِيٍّ ؓ اتَّبِعْهُ فَانْظُرْ مَا رَجَعَهُ فَتَبِعَهُ فَقَالَ مَا رَدَّكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «لَيْسَ لِي أَنْ أَدْخَلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا»

✧ A man invited Ali and he prepared food for him. Fatimah ؓ said: ‘If only we could invite the Prophet ﷺ and he could eat with us.’ So Ali sent a man to him, and he came. He took hold of the doorposts and saw a decorated curtain in the corners of the house, so he turned back. Fatimah ؓ said to Ali ؓ: ‘Follow him and see what made him turn back.’ So he followed him and said: ‘What made you turn back, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: “It is not proper for me to enter an adorned house.”
