حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ
أَنَّ سَفِينَةَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ رَكِبْتُ الْبَحْرَ فَانْكَسَرَتْ سَفِينَتِي الَّتِي كُنْتُ فِيهَا فَرَكِبْتُ لَوْحًا مِنْ أَلْوَاحِهَا فَطَرَحَنِي اللَّوْحُ فِي أَجَمَةٍ فِيهَا الْأَسَدُ فَأَقْبَلَ يُرِيدُنِي فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا الْحَارِثِ أَنَا مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَأْطَأَ رَأْسَهُ وَأَقْبَلَ إِلَيَّ فَدَفَعَنِي بِمَنْكِبِهِ حَتَّى أَخْرَجَنِي مِنَ الْأَجَمَةِ وَوَضَعَنِي عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ وَهَمْهَمَ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُوَدِّعُنِي فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ آخِرَ عَهْدِي بِهِ

✧ Safinah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: I sailed on the sea and the ship I was in broke apart, so I rode on one of its planks. The plank threw me into a thicket where there was a lion. It came toward me, and I said, "O Abu al-Harith, I am the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." It lowered its head and came to me, then pushed me with its shoulder until it brought me out of the thicket and placed me on the road, and it made a low sound, so I thought it was bidding me farewell. That was the last I saw of it.
