حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْ لِي فِي الْإِسْلَامِ قَوْلًا لَا أَسْأَلُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ؟ فَقَالَ قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ قُلْتُ مَا أَتَّقِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَى لِسَانِهِ»

✧ I said, 'O Messenger of God, tell me something about Islam such that I will not ask anyone after you.' He said, 'Say: I believe in God, then be steadfast.' I said, 'What should I guard against, O Messenger of God?' He said, 'And he gestured to his tongue.'
