حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامِ بْنِ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ صَخْرٍ الْبَيَاضِيِّ قَالَ
كُنْتُ امْرَأً أَسْتَكْثِرُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ لَا أَرَى أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يُصِيبُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا أُصِيبُ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ رَمَضَانُ ظَاهَرْتُ مِنِ امْرَأَتِي حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ رَمَضَانُ فَبَيْنَمَا هِيَ تُحَدِّثُ لَيْلَةً فَكُشِفَتْ لِي مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ فَوَثَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَوَاقَعْتُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ غَدَوْتُ عَلَى قَوْمِي فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ خَبَرِي فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ سَلُوا لِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا مَا كُنَّا لِنَفْعَلَ إِذَنْ يَنْزِلُ فِينَا مِنَ اللهِ كِتَابٌ أَوْ يَكُونُ فِينَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْرٌ فَيَبْقَى عَلَيْنَا عَارٌ وَلَكِنْ سَوْفَ نُسْلِمُكَ بِجَرِيرَتِكَ فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَاذْكُرْ شَأْنَكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ حَتَّى جِئْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَأَنْتَ بِذَاكَ؟» قُلْتُ وَأَنَا بِذَاكَ وَهَا أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَابِرٌ لِحُكْمِ اللهِ عَلَيَّ قَالَ «فَأَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً» قُلْتُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أَصْبَحْتُ أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا رَقَبَتِي قَالَ «فَصُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ الْبَلَاءُ إِلَّا مِنْ قِبَلِ الصَّوْمِ قَالَ «فَتَصَدَّقْ وَأَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا» قُلْتُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَقَدْ بِتْنَا لَيْلَتَنَا هَذِهِ مَالَنَا مِنْ عَشَاءٍ قَالَ «فَاذْهَبْ إِلَى صَاحِبِ صَدَقَةِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ فَقُلْ لَهُ فَلْيَدْفَعْ إِلَيْكَ فَأَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا وَانْتَفِعْ بِبَقِيَّتِهَا»

✧ I was a man who desired many women. I did not think that any man got more of that than I did. When Ramaḍān entered, I made ẓihār from my wife until Ramaḍān ended. While she was talking one night, something of her was revealed to me, so I jumped on her and had intercourse with her. When morning came, I went to my people and told them my story, and I said to them: "Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for me." They said: "We would not do that; then a book from Allah would descend concerning us, or there would be a matter from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning us, and a disgrace would remain upon us. But we will hand you over with your offense, so go yourself and mention your affair to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: So I went out until I came to him and told him the news. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And you did that?" I said: "I did that, and here I am, O Messenger of Allah, patiently accepting Allah's ruling upon me." He said: "Then free a slave." I said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I woke this morning owning nothing but my own neck." He said: "Then fast two consecutive months." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, the affliction only came upon me because of fasting." He said: "Then give charity and feed sixty poor people." I said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, we spent this night of ours without any supper." He said: "Then go to the keeper of the charity of Banū Zurayq and tell him to give it to you, and feed sixty poor people, and benefit from what remains."
