حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي جِنَازَةٍ فَأَثْنَى الْقَوْمُ عَلَيْهِ ثَنَاءً حَسَنًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَجَبَتْ» فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَمَا وَجَبَتْ؟ قَالَ «الْمَلَائِكَةُ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَأَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَإِذَا شَهِدْتُمْ وَجَبَتْ»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at a funeral, and the people praised him with good praise. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “It has become incumbent.” They said: O Messenger of Allah, what has become incumbent? He said: “The angels are Allah’s witnesses in heaven, and you are Allah’s witnesses on earth. When you bear witness, it becomes incumbent.”
