حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْكِنَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ؓ
أَنَّهُ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذِهِ؟» قَالَ هَذِهِ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَصْحَابِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا سَلْمَانُ إِنَّا لَا نَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ» فَذَهَبَ بِهَا سَلْمَانُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ جَاءَهُ سَلْمَانُ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذِهِ الْمَائِدَةُ؟» قَالَ هَذِهِ هَدِيَّةٌ فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «ادْنُوَا فَكُلُوا» فَأَكَلَ
Translation

✧ He brought a table with fresh dates to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, 'What is this?' He replied, 'This is charity for you and your companions.' He said, 'O Salman, we do not eat charity.' So Salman took it away. The next day, Salman came to him with a table bearing fresh dates. He said, 'What is this table?' He replied, 'This is a gift.' He said to his companions, 'Come near and eat,' and he ate.
