حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْمَازِنِيُّ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ قَالَا ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ كَثِيرٍ النَّوَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ عَنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ بْنِ نَجَبَةَ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ
«إِنَّ كُلَّ نَبِيٍّ أُعْطِيَ سَبْعَةَ نُجَبَاءَ رُفَقَاءَ وَإِنَّا أُعْطِيَتْ لَنَا أَرْبَعَةَ عَشَرَ» قُلْنَا لِعَلِيٍّ مَنْ هُمْ؟ قَالَ أَنَا وَابْنَايَ وَجَعْفَرٌ وَحَمْزَةُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَمُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ وَبِلَالٌ وَسَلْمَانُ وَعَمَّارٌ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ لَمْ يُتِمَّ عَدَدَ الْأَرْبَعَةَ عَشَرَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ

✧ "Ali said, 'Verily, every prophet is given seven intimate advisers, and we have been given fourteen. We asked Ali, 'Who are they?' He replied, 'Me, my two sons, Ja'far and Hamza, Abu Bakr, Umar, Mus'ab ibn Umair, Bilal, Salman, Ammar, and Abdullah ibn Mas'ood.' The number fourteen was not completed in this narrative."
