حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَسُهَيْلُ ابْنُ بَيْضَاءَ رِدْفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا سُهَيْلُ ابْنُ بَيْضَاءَ» وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُجِيبُهُ سُهَيْلٌ فَيَسْمَعَ النَّاسُ صَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَرَفُوا أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُهُمْ فَجَلَسَ مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَحِقَهُ مَنْ كَانَ خَلْفَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا اجْتَمَعُوا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, Suhayl ibn Bayda’ was riding behind the Messenger of God ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “O Suhayl ibn Bayda’,” and raised his voice twice or three times. Each time Suhayl answered him, so that the people heard the voice of the Messenger of God ﷺ and knew that he meant them. Those in front sat down, and those behind caught up, until when they had gathered, the Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Whoever bears witness that there is no god but God, God forbids him from the Fire and makes Paradise obligatory for him.”
