حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ زِيَادٍ وعَلَاقَةَ ابْنَيْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ أَصْلٌ فَلْيَسْتَمْسِكْ بِهِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بِهَا أَصْلٌ فَلْيَجْعَلْ لَهُ بِهَا أَصْلًا فَلَيَأْتِيَّنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَكُونُ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهَا أَصْلٌ كَالْخَارِجِ مِنْهَا الْمُجْتازِ إِلَى غَيْرِهَا»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Whoever has roots in Madinah, let him hold fast to them, and whoever does not have roots there, let him establish roots there. There will come upon people a time when one who has no roots there will be like one leaving it, passing through to elsewhere.”
