حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْمَازِنِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَوْسٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُسَارُّهُ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اذْهَبْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقُلْ لَهُمُ اقْتُلُوهُ ثُمَّ دَعَاهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ بَعْدَمَا ذَهَبَ فَقَالَ لَعَلَّهُ يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَقُلْ لَهُمْ يُرْسِلُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ فَإِذَا قَالُوهَا حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيَّ أَمْوَالُهُمْ ودِمَاؤُهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا وَحَقُّهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while his hair was disheveled and I was listening. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Go to them and say to them, 'Kill him.' Then, he called him back after he had left and said, 'Perhaps he will say, 'There is no god but Allah.' " The man said, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tell them to release him, for I have been commanded to fight against people until they say, 'There is no god but Allah.' When they say it, their blood and wealth become inviolable to me, except for its right, and their account is with Allah."
