حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُمَحِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ §يَبُولُ قَائِمًا قَالَ
وَقَدْ كَانَ كَبُرَ حَتَّى لَا يَكَادُ يَمْلِكُ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقُلْتُ أَلَا تَنْزِعُ خُفَّيْكَ؟ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ خَيْرًا مِنِّي يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ»

✧ He had grown so old that he could hardly control that from himself. He said: Then he called for water, performed ablution, and wiped over his leather socks. I said: "Will you not take off your leather socks?" He said: "I saw one better than me do that."
