حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَنْبَرٍ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا أَبُو حَازِمٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ يَقُولُ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَدَحٍ فَشَرِبَ وَالْأَشْيَاخُ عَلَى يَسَارِهِ وَغُلَامٌ هُوَ أَصْغَرُ الْقَوْمِ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا شَرِبَ قَالَ «يَا غُلَامُ تَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَ الْأَشْيَاخَ؟» قَالَ مَا كُنْتُ أُوثِرُ بِنَصِيبِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ

✧ I heard Sahl b. Sa'd say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a cup and he drank. The elders were on his left, and a boy who was the youngest of the people was on his right. When he had drunk, he said: "O boy, do you permit me to give it to the elders?" The boy said: I would not prefer anyone over you for my share of your leftover, O Messenger of Allah. So he gave it to him.
