حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُزَيْقِ بْنِ جَامِعٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ثنا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي فِي لَيْلَةٍ قَمِرَةٍ وَقَدْ أَوْثَقْتُ فَرَسِي فَجَالَتْ جَوْلَةً فَفَزِعْتُ ثُمَّ جَالَتْ أُخْرَى فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي وَإِذَا ظُلَّةٌ قَدْ غَشِيَتْنِي وَإِذَا هِيَ قَدْ حَالَتْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ الْقَمَرِ فَفَزِعْتُ فَدَخَلْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ ذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «تِلْكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ جَاءَتْ تَسْتَمِعُ قُرْآنَكَ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ» وَكَانَ أُسَيْدُ حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ

✧ I was praying on a moonlit night, and I had tied up my horse, and it moved suddenly, and I was startled. Then it moved again, and I raised my head, and there was a canopy that had covered me, and it had come between me and the moon, and I was startled, so I entered the house. In the morning I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Those were the angels; they came to listen to your recitation of the Qur'an at the end of the night: Surat al-Baqarah.' And Usayd had a beautiful voice.
